A lifelong lover of music, Claire De Lune has always had a natural instinct for finding the right soundtrack. Long before she ever stepped behind a radio microphone, she was often the one choosing the music at parties — unknowingly nurturing the instincts of a frustrated DJ!
She eventually found her way into radio in her 40s, turning a lifelong love of music into a love of playing, discovering and sharing it with other people.
And despite what you might expect, Claire was never a raver. She does, however, love a good dance — especially when there’s a seriously good bass line involved!
Her musical tastes are eclectic, curious and deliberately hard to pin down. Soul, funk, disco, psychedelia, electronica, dub, pop, rock and plenty of wonderfully unexpected detours all have their place. She’s drawn to music that makes you feel something — whether that’s a tune that takes you straight back to a particular moment, something you’ve never heard before, or simply a track that makes you stop what you’re doing and turn it up.
For her, being a DJ isn’t about fitting neatly into a genre or following a formula. It’s about the journey, the surprises and the connections that happen along the way. Music is a way of sharing stories, memories and moments — sometimes familiar, sometimes unexpected, and occasionally just gloriously weird.
Ultimately, she’s still that person at the party choosing the music, she’s just got a microphone now. But really, it’s the music that does the talking.
